Artist Talk – Akshata Naik
Artist Akshata Naik talks about her work Boats with a Million Holes. This piece of work is about deconstructing and dismantling the symbol of a painful journey that each immigrant goes through. This piece is developed in addition to the artist’s previous work Bloody Boats. A settler’s journey is not only physical transition but also mental and emotional transitions that end up punching so many holes in one’s lives at different levels as an immigrant or a refugee or anyone displaced from their settled life to an unsettling journey.
