Waterloo Region Needs
People Who Care
We are a grassroots volunteer-based community group dedicated to building and maintaining Waterloo Region as a welcoming, safe, and inclusive community for refugees and immigrants.
“Refugees didn’t just escape a place. They had to escape a thousand memories until they’d put enough time and distance between them and their misery to wake to a better day.”
- Nadia Hashimi
Community Coalition On Refugee and Immigrant Concerns is an active and engaged
volunteer-based community group in Waterloo Region.
Community Coalition On Refugee and Immigrant Concerns (CCORIC) advocates for acceptance, justice, and better access to resources for refugees and immigrants.
We work to bring about positive change through education, advocacy, community outreach, and collaborative work with other community groups.

“My experience with CCORIC opened me to a wider team of people and groups who work with refugees and immigrants. From politicians to pastors, imams to people with simply a community interest, we have kept the doors open to the strangers among us, and worked as teams with new people, until none of us are strangers. Beautiful!”
